L O V E

“Whenever I get gloomy with the state of the world, I think about the arrivals gate at Heathrow Airport. General opinion's starting to make out that we live in a world of hatred and greed, but I don't see that. It seems to me that love is everywhere. Often it's not particularly dignified or newsworthy, but it's always there - fathers and sons, mothers and daughters, husbands and wives, boyfriends, girlfriends, old friends. When the planes hit the Twin Towers, as far as I know none of the phone calls from the people on board were messages of hate or revenge - they were all messages of love. If you look for it, I've got a sneaking suspision love actually is all around.” – Love Actually

It is so easy to become disillusioned with the state of the world. Turn on the news, open the paper, or just take a look outside and you're reminded of global warming's effects, the six years we've been embroiled in war, or the obsession our country has over the downfall of the likes of Britney Spears. However, this opening quote from Love Actually, spoken in Hugh Grant's heart-warming British accent, reminds me that not all is lost. No matter how much debt the country is in, or how low the stock market has plumetted, love is a constant to get us through it all. Terrorists cannot take love away from us, regardless of how many bombs they drop or planes they high-jack. We must all remember the importance of love, and how powerful it can be, because without love we'd be lost.
